I was walking through the woods…

I was walking through the woods near a creek when I saw a large spider web. It was beautiful in its symmetry, its thick threads catching sunlight. Patches of sunlight painted the cool shadows on the path beneath it. We are all territorial to varying degrees. I am about as possessive as that spider and almost as excitable.

On a large web sat
a large spider, bouncing the
web to frighten me.

The spider was black
and yellow with slender build
for a large spider.

I observed, but did
not frustrate the work of that
silly ol’ spider.

  1. As she weaves her web to prey,
She knows not nature of catch!
    As unwary as a fly,
She awaits her scheme to hatch!

I too get excited by beautifully woven webs and stunningly beautiful spiders sometimes… 🙂
